Polotsk "Steklovolokno" was founded in 1957. From the first year, only modern knowledge and up-to-date technologies were used to realize its expansion projects. This made possible to build contemporary specialized enterprise.
In 1978 a workshop for manufacturing glass plastic fishing rods was put in operation.
In 1984 the enterprise produced the first parcel of electric insulation materials.
In 1986 Polotsk "Steklovolokno" was reorganized in Polotsk production association "Steklovolokno", and from 2001 - in RUE "Polotsk PA "Steklovolokno".
Nowadays Polotsk "Steklovolokno" is an integrated enterprise, combining such technological processes as batch preparation, glass melting, glass fibres forming, its twisting plying, warping, sizing and weaving, thermal and chemical treatment, and glass plastic manufacturing.
Enterprise today
The enterprise is specialized in manufacturing of glass fibre and products on its basis: electric insulation, building and thermal insulation materials, construction fabrics, silica materials; and its structural division "Steklokomposit" - in manufacturing fishing rods and other glass plastic products.
The products are made on the basis of different kinds of glass: "E"-glass for electric insulation materials, high-strength glass "S-2", high temperature silica glass and glass ''Puresil''.
From the very start the enterprise is intended to keep high technology level in serial manufacturing and introduce high technologies in new materials.
A great part of development is created in its own research center.
Up-to-date technologies and high level of personnel's skill let provide high quality of manufactured products. Computer-based systems and statistical data manipulation are used to control products quality; there is a program for the product quality management system to be attested on standards ISO-9000.
RUE "Polotsk PA "Steklovolokno" is situated on the north-east of Belarus, in Polotsk, Industrial zone Ksty on crossing of railroads and highways.
